#seriousheadshot2 Thank you for all of the lovely comments on my last post about the photos in The Curated Closet 😍 and also to everyone who offered up their face to model for a new edition. If that's ever happening you'll be hearing from me 😋
Also: Everyone go check out the 1-minute challenge we just posted on @beyondbeautifulbook and participate once, twice, however many times you want, and make someone's week!
Let's talk about the photos in The Curated Closet! I've addressed this in different places, but never on my insta, but yes, looking back at it a good four years later, I wish I would have tried harder to have the photos represent a variety of sizes and ages. We did set out with that goal but in the end it didn't happen for budget reasons, which is not a good excuse and which I regret big time.
That's not to say I'm not proud of the work we did create during those 3 days of shooting - I am super proud of everyone's work, but I regret that the photos in my book - the whole point of which is to help you stop feeling like you need to dress or look a certain way to be "good enough"- do nothing to break with the harmful societal idea that "young and thin" is the gold standard. I need to exclude the Brazilian edition of The Curated Closet (pictured), which contains all new photos shot in Brazil with four lovely ladies, three of which are not professional models.
My dream is to at some point be able to create an updated US/UK version with at least 10 different non-models (not 'real women', because models are women too) to represent as much size, age and style diversity as possible.
I need help you guys!! WANTED: A PR and social media assistant to help out with the entire PR and marketing campaign for @beyondbeautifulbook – everything from pitching to media outlets, writing PR material to creating social media posts, prepping events and helping to grow the BB community.
If you're Berlin-based, a strong writer, native English speaker (or write like one) and into all things body image, feminism and self-care: let's chat!

This is a flexible part-time position: You must be available for 16 hours a week, but can spread out those hours however you like. Except for the occasional event support, you'll be mostly able to work from home.

Click the link in my bio for the full job description and instructions for how to apply!
Social media gets a bad rep when it comes to body image, but this quote reflects just one of the many ways social media can also have a hugely positive effect.
How do you think your body image has been affected by social media? Mostly positive or mostly negative? Hop over to @beyondbeautifulbook to discuss!
I'm playing agony aunt today! Head over to @beyondbeautifulbook to read my answer 😉

You know when someone says something rude and in the moment you’re speechless but two hours later you come up with the perfect, witty response and you keep kicking yourself for days after?⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Today’s post is an idea for how to prevent exactly that from happening when dealing with perhaps the rudest „person“ in your life: your judgy inner voice. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Now that you’ve given it a face (check out last week’s toolbox if you missed it), you’re ready to start talking back! ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Pick one or two things your judgy inner voice says to you on a regular basis, whether that’s “You look enormous in these shorts” or “You’re probably just not pretty enough for him” or „Why can’t you just look like a normal person in photos!“⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Then, think about how you could talk back to your judgy inner voice next time. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
If you come up with the perfect response to something your judgy inner voice keeps throwing at you, tell us in the comments!⠀⠀

Psst... there's a new post up on @beyondbeautifulbook all about a super effective and fun little technique for dealing with negative self-talk.
Head over to @beyondbeautifulbook to learn how it works and tell me what your judgy inner voice looks like😜
Second cool piece of news I can drop on you today: Beyond Beautiful is now officially available for pre-order everywhere books are sold! Link in bio! ⠀
⠀
A German edition will be published at the same time as well (search for "Beyond Beautiful: Wie wir trotz Schönheitswahn zufrieden und selbstbewusst leben können") 😉⠀
⠀
If you're even a sixteenth as excited about this book as I am, make sure you also follow @beyondbeautifulbook where lots and lots of good stuff will be happening starting from today 🤗 ⠀
⠀
Thank you again to all the lovely and talented people that we're involved in bringing this book to life: @kmketchum, @lindsay_edgecombe, @fisalerkel, everyone at @tenspeedpress and of course @marinaesmeraldo, who created this cover and all illustrations in BB.
