What's In Your Guide

Your Color Guide has two parts:

  • Part I is an in-depth analysis of your coloring.

  • Part II is a guide to your best and worst colors for everything from clothes, hair, make up and jewelry.

What we will determine in part I

  • 🧪 Your undertone: Cool, cool-neutral, warm-neutral or warm?
  • 🫒 Does your skin have an olive tone?
  • Overall contrast level: Very high, high, medium or low?
  • Exact skin tone, eye color and hair level
  • 💎 Chroma of your complexion: Soft, medium or clear?
  • Chroma of your eye color: Soft, medium or clear?
  • How much warmth does your hair color have?
  • What is your color season? 🌸☀️🍁❄️ (12-season system)

Questions your guide will answer in part II

  • 🎨 What are your best colors?
  • Do warm or cool colors work better on you? How ‘bad’ are the non-ideal undertones exactly?
  • Do you look better in more vivid or muted shades? What are your best color genres (Anuschka's 9-genre system)?
  • How light is the lightest color that won't wash you out? How deep is the deepest color that won't overwhelm you?
  • Which colors may clash with your coloring or look the most dissonant?
  • What are your best (and worst) options of: yellow, orange, bold red, deep red, lighter pink, white, light neutral, green neutral, deep neutral, black.
  • How will aging affect your best colors? Which exact shades may look worse, which better? What about a tan?
  • 💍 Which exact color jewelry will work best on you? What is your best-option silver and gold?
  • What are your best hair colors?
  • How deep and light can you go when it comes to your hair?
  • What is your best-option blond, red and (almost) black shade?
  • What color should you look for in foundation shades (with example swatches)?

So how does this work?

FAQ

I already purchased Anuschka's prior Color Guide. Will I learn anything new in this one?

Absolutely! These color guides are not just an update, they are a completely new product and full of things that were not a part of the prior guides.

Anuschka created her original Color Guides in 2023, before she had even begun working on her book Personal Color. While writing her manuscript, she did a deep-dive into color theory and developed many of her coolest (and most helpful) concepts, like color genres. You can think of your previous guide as an iPhone 4 and the new color profiles as the latest model—the core purpose remains the same, but every component has been refined through literal years of R&D.

Here is just a short selection of things you'll learn about in this new guide that were not a part of the prior version: your best color genres, hair level, complexion chroma, eye chroma, best and worst options of ten tricky colors, how aging and tanning affect your colors, jewelry shades, exact hair shades, and what specific hues to look for in foundations.

Do you offer a discount to people who bought the prior guide?

Unfortunately not, since this service is a new product that has been designed from scratch.

What is the difference between this and Anuschka’s book Personal Color?

You can think of Personal Color as a whole art gallery and this service as your private viewing. The book will teach you everything you could ever want to know about color theory and color analysis; it contains A LOT of information. Your Color Guide is tailor-made for you: no background info, just 50 pages of insights about your exact coloring.

The Color Guides also include several exclusive features that are not in the book: for example, we will show you what your ideal foundation tone will likely look like (more yellow-y or pink, etc). You'll also learn your best and worst options for specific types of colors (e.g. what is your best and worst light neutral or bold red), and also hair colors (e.g. what is your best blond shade).

How To Take Your Own Photos For Color Analysis

👉 You can take all of your pictures in one go on your phone, by yourself, just with your front-facing camera.

Photo List

To create your Color Guide, we need 7 different photos from you:

  1. your whole face, while wearing a white top

  2. your side profile

  3. your face wearing any yellow or orange top

  4. your face wearing any pink or purple top

  5. your face wearing any brown or beige top

  6. the side of your head that shows your hair color (if your hair is un-treated)

  7. your natural hair color (if your hair is colored or gone gray)

If you don’t own tops in these colors you can simply hold any fabric underneath your face.

How to take your photos

We recommend you take your photos either

  • outside in natural daylight under a clear-ish sky

  • inside facing a window, but not in direct sunlight

Check out this Instagram carousel we made for more examples of good vs bad lighting.

Pre-Upload Checklist

Before you submit your photos, make sure that…

  • your face fills at least half of the screen. I only need to see a small piece of your top.

  • the image accurately captures your skin color, and has neither a blue-ish grey cast nor a yellow-golden one.

  • your face is well-lit but not in direct sunlight.

  • your eyes clearly visible. Someone that doesn’t know you should be able to tell your eye color from looking at each of your pics.

  • you are not wearing any make up and have taken off your glasses.

  • there are no traces of self-tanner on your face.

  • your hair is down but out of your face.

  • your phone's flash is turned off.

  • you have turned off any blurring filters.

👉 ALL OF THESE POINTS ARE CRUCIAL! I will let you know if I believe your photos aren’t suitable for color analysis, but I’m not able to spot if you are wearing subtle fake tan or the sun is giving you an even golden glow that looks natural.

Your pics don’t need to be Insta-worthy, but they do need to capture your coloring as accurately as possible. Out of these three photos, only the right one is suitable for color analysis.

The source of light should be directly in front of you, not behind you.
