Inside Your Personal Color Guide
1
Color Theory Essentials You Need To Know
What’s an undertone, what’s a chroma and what makes this blue warmer than that one? Color analysis is applied color theory. That’s why we’ll start off with a quick color theory lesson to make sure we’re on the same page. 🎨
2
Color Harmony: The Secret Sauce 🤫
So we can all agree that certain colors look better on some people than others, right? But WHY? Is it just random, did someone decide that? No, it's color harmony, a set of principles within color theory, and you'll learn all about it in your color guide.
3
The 12 Seasonal Types In a Nutshell ❄️🌿🌸🍁
Summer, Winter, Soft Autumns: If you are not familiar with seasonal color analysis it can all sound a bit complicated. That's why before I tell you which one of the twelve types you are, we'll do a short dive into the system as a whole and what it has to do with color theory.

How To Take Your Own Photos For Color Analysis
📲 You can absolutely take all of your pictures in one go on your phone, by yourself, just with your front-facing camera. Your lighting matters though! Your pics don’t need to be Insta-worthy, but they do need to capture your coloring as accurately as possible.
☀️ I recommend you take your photos OUTSIDE IN NATURAL DAYLIGHT under a clear-ish sky. It should not be during sunrise, sundown, golden hour, or under direct sunlight or a lot of clouds. If today is not a good day for photos, pick another day, there is no rush.
Photo List
In order to for me to properly analyse your coloring, I need these photos from you:
a photo of your face while wearing a pure white top
a photo of your side profile where I can also see your ear and neck
a photo of you wearing any red top
a photo of you wearing any blue top
a photo of you wearing any green top
OPTIONAL a photo of you in any pink/purple top
OPTIONAL a photo of you in any yellow/orange top
IF YOU HAVE COLOR-TREATED OR GREY HAIR please also submit any photo that approximates your natural/earlier hair color (think a younger you, a relative or celebrity)
Pre-Upload Checklist
Before you submit your photos, make sure that…
your face fills at least half of the screen. I only need to see a small piece of your top.
the image accurately captures your skin color, and has neither a blue-ish grey cast nor a yellow-golden one.
your face is well-lit but not in direct sunlight.
your eyes clearly visible. Someone that doesn’t know you should be able to tell your eye color from looking at each of your pics.
you are not wearing any make up and have taken off your glasses.
there are no traces of self-tanner on your face.
your hair is down but out of your face.
your phone's flash is turned off.
you have turned off any blurring filters.
👉 ALL OF THESE POINTS ARE CRUCIAL! I will let you know if I believe your photos aren’t suitable for color analysis, but I’m not able to spot if you are wearing subtle fake tan or the sun is giving you an even golden glow that looks natural.
Disclaimers
This is a COLOR consultation only. Your guide will not take into account your personal style or preference for certain colors. All mood boards and outfit examples in your guide will feature a variety of aesthetics.
To allow me to offer this service to as many people as possible, your color consultation will be delivered in the form of a digital guide only. It does not include a face-to-face consultation or any follow-up advice.
Color analysis is not a hard science, because it involves multiple variables that exist on a spectrum and that need to be interpreted in relation to each other. It’s absolutely possible that another color analyst would type you differently than I would, which does not necessarily mean that either of us are “wrong”.
I have not been professionally trained in color analysis. I am simply a person who is into fashion and colors and who enjoys distilling abstract topics into practical takeaways. I am also the author of The Curated Closet, a bestselling style book that has been translated into multiple languages, and my posts on color analysis have ranked in the top five search results for that term for over ten years now.
Please note that I am not able to offer refunds once you have submitted your photos.
